The Opportunity Scholars Program is a four-year program established to assist American minority students who otherwise would be unable to afford a Christian higher education.

Many talented and God-loving minority students across the U.S. desire a BJU education—however, segments of these students face insurmountable odds and without extra help, they will not be able to afford attending college. We realize these talented and hard-working students will receive help from somewhere—and we want it to be from BJU.

These students now have an opportunity for additional funding through the Opportunity Scholars Program. As part of this program, 31 American minority students joined the BJU student body during its inaugural year. This fall semester brought 15 new students with 27 Bridge Scholar students returning, totaling 42–an increase of 40%! Our vision is that we would continue to see the number of Opportunity Scholars on campus grow through funds raised for student scholarships.
